Create Daiganji holds various Buddhist services and events throughout the year.
Everyone is welcome to participate, so please feel free to visit.

Jan

New Year Ceremony & First Goma

Annually Jan 1st - 3rd

A service to pray for peace and safety in the coming year. For three days starting from New Year's Day, Goma fire rituals are performed to pray for tranquility in the new year.

Everyone is welcome to visit. Please spend the beginning of the new year amidst the quiet chanting of Nenbutsu.

Spring Higan

7 days centered on the Vernal Equinox Day

Higan is an important time to think of the Pure Land and remember our ancestors. During the Spring Higan service, we hold memorial services to express gratitude and offer prayers for our ancestors.

Obon & Segaki Service

Annually Aug 17th, from 2:00 PM

A major memorial service held during the Obon period for ancestors. It involves saving spirits that have fallen into the realm of hungry ghosts (Gaki) and offering prayers for ancestors.

Many people, including parishioners, attend this service. Please join us for Obon prayers.

Betsuji Nenbutsu Kai

Annually in September
Three Days & Nights

Inheriting the tradition as one of the Jodo-shu Kanto 18 Danrin, this is a three-day, three-night Nenbutsu training session. By stepping away from daily life and single-mindedly chanting Nenbutsu, participants aim for spiritual purification.

Autumn Higan

7 days centered on the Autumnal Equinox Day

Similar to spring, we hold memorial services for ancestors during the Autumn Higan. Please spend a quiet moment remembering your ancestors in the temple grounds colored by autumn leaves.

New Year's Eve Bell

Annually Dec 31st, from around 11:30 PM

OntNew Year's Eve, the bell is struck 108 times to cleanse the 108 worldly desires of humans. Visitors are also welcome to strike the bell.

Why not welcome the New Year in the silence of the temple grounds and strike the bell with a prayer for the coming year?
