Chiba Daigan-ji Temple
A hall of Nenbutsu practice preserving the light for 470 years
Ryuzawa-san Genchu-in Daiganji Temple was founded in 1551 during the Warring States period. Established with Hara Tanehide and his wife as founders and Master Doyo Teiha as the founding priest, the temple has preserved its sacred light through the ages.
In 1590, shortly after Tokugawa Ieyasu entered the Kanto region, Daiganji became the first temple to receive a guarantee of its temple lands, marking its place in history.
The main hall and study were designated as nationally registered tangible cultural properties in 2011, with the temple grounds carrying the weight of history in their serene atmosphere.
